Is Social Media the Low Hanging Fruit of 2011?
Perhaps one of the easiest - and more increasingly obvious - ways of reaching your targeted audience is by engaging in social networking sites and social media engineering of your brand, reputation and online presence.
One of the supposed side benefits of pursuing this line of marketing is also the dream of driving more targeted visitors to your website and then ultimately to your products and services.
Fortunately the path to promotion via this mechanism isn't so difficult anymore.
Creating a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account for your enterprise could not be simpler.
Within a couple of hours, you can build a page, add general information, photos, your logo, and other engaging and descriptive content about your brand, and reach out to thousands of prospective customers.
Every friend, follower, Like, and link you accumulate through these sites gives you three separate benefits:
- Search engines will give your pages higher rankings thus driving more traffic
- Your brand will be more credible as other's social approve it
- Your overall traffic will increase as people visit your site through your social presences they encounter
In short, social media endeavoring is a fairly simple way to grow your online visibility.
The notion that social networking sites like Facebook- which was already experiencing over 8 million daily user logins in 2008, according to the Silicon Valley Insider- are used exclusively by a younger audience has been dispelled, as 65% of business professionals report that they use them regularly for personal and commercial purposes.
If you’re still not sold on Tweeting up a traffic storm, look at what a PPC campaign will cost you, and then consider that most social networking membership is - oh yeah, FREE.
While I am on the topic of social media engineering, I will share that we have been able to target specific pages on client sites and obtain dozens and dozens of social approvals in the form of bookmarks, likes and other online endorsements.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can enter the arena with just one page of your website, let me know privately.
Hope you enjoyed this Traffic Tuesdays tip.
