Enable Resizable Text and Reduce Bounce Rates

Do you make your website’s features adaptable to the needs of your prospective clients, or do you assume they will make the effort to adapt to you? For Los Angeles website design and business owners alike, optimizing a site for usability can be difficult when it comes to the look and feel of your vision versus what will best accommodate the full spectrum of your users.

A seemingly minor way in which you can present your users with a browsing experience that takes into account their potential preferences or limitations is by allowing your text to be resizable. It is important to remember that each set of eyes that looks at your page is going to be a little different, which is often the case if users in your targeted audience tend to be a little older. Furthermore, your site is going to have different pixilation and resolution on a brand new MacBook Pro than it will on a clunky ten-year-old desktop, so teency, predetermined text size might prove frustrating.

A solution, aside from avoiding the use of CSS style sheets that restricts text to a single size, is to code your text loosely (120% for large text, 90% for small text, etc.) and to lean to a larger size for the default text size (10 or 12-point are good choices). Also, make sure text and background colors contrast strongly to make the former stand out. Showing this consideration for your users’ preferences will ensure that your well-written, SEO-geared content gets a thorough read.
