Here at
LA Dezign, we audit many professional websites for search engine optimization (SEO) benefits, to ensure that we know what strategies to focus on moving forward. It’s well known that whenever you pay for a service you should do a substantial amount of research, or at least enough, to understand what you can expect from an SEO audit. This way you know whether you are overpaying or underpaying for your services and will be prepared to ask relevant questions, while minimizing the risk of getting taken advantage off. Today, we briefly discuss what to look for in an SEO audit and what questions to ask.
When it comes to a comprehensively optimized website for search engines, an audit must include information and/or data about several interconnected factors. The following elements are usually always found in an SEO audit:
- Targeted keywords
- On page content and layout
- Linking profile
- Analytics and Analysis
On top of these essentials that are addressed in an audit, one must also look for a strategy or direction on implementing a strategy in the audit. There must be a plan of action. Do not hesitate to ask the SEO company that you have auditing your website about any questions on how they will be achieving certain goals. They should be willing to lay out a clear-cut strategy, whether you’re looking for something in the short or long-term. Aside from the obvious questions of the cost and how long it will take to complete, make sure you are asking the right questions. The following are a couple concrete questions that you should keep in mind when getting an SEO audit:
- What will the full assessment include?
- Besides the usual SEO suggestions (such as getting more links), what are some firm recommendations to improve my site?
- What is needed from me as a client?
- Clarify what you hope to get out of the SEO audit moving forward!
You always hear about businesses not doing enough research and in not doing so, getting ripped off. Whether it’s an SEO audit or you’re getting your mechanic to change the catalytic converter in your car...always remember, a little bit of research goes a long way!
